Role Descriptions

Cheryl Foy is UOIT’s first University Secretary and General Counsel.  Reporting to the President, with a dotted-line responsibility to the chair of the Board of Governors, she is a member of the senior leadership team with responsibility for the governance, legal support, compliance, and risk portfolios. 

Andrea Kelly is the Senior Administrative Assistant to Cheryl Foy. Andrea provides executive level assistance to the University Secretary and General Counsel, and assists in the administrative responsibilities of the office.

Becky Dinwoodie is responsible for promoting the effective operation of the university's bicameral form of governance. She provides advisory and administrative support to the Board of Governors, Academic Council, and their standing and ad hoc committees.

Niall O’Halloran is the Policy and Compliance Advisor. Niall is responsible for overseeing the University's policy management and compliance through the implementation and administration of the UOIT Policy Framework. He is also responsible for advising and educating on information governance including records management and privacy, as well as coordinating compliance with other legislation including the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation. In addition, Niall is the main administrator for the university's contract tracking software, configuring to meet user needs and providing training on the system. 

Jacquelyn Dupuis is the Director of Risk Management, reporting to the University Secretary and General Counsel. Jacquelyn champions risk management principles and practices at all levels of the organization. She is responsible for implementing the University Risk Management framework, building a risk awareness culture across the organization.  The role also includes the managing and implementation of all insurance programs, working closely with insurers, adjusters and legal counsel.
