Applying CASL to UOIT Activities

Applying CASL at UOIT involves determining which activities are core the University's mandate and which are not.   The following are examples of common activities at UOIT that identify when CASL may or may not apply.  These examples are intended to to help users determine whether or not CASL applies to the kind of activity being considered.

Remember, even if CASL does apply to your message, you may still be able to send it if you have consent or if your message fits into one of the exemptions.  If you determine that CASL does apply to your message,  please follow the instructions located on the How to Comply with CASL in order to send your message.

If you have any questions regarding the application of CASL to your activities, please contact the Policy and Compliance Advisor at policy@uoit.ca or extension 6705.
