Presidential Transition Committee

On March 1, 2018 Steven Murphy, PhD, joins the campus community as the university’s new President and Vice-Chancellor. 

In preparation for Dr. Murphy’s arrival, the Board of Governors has established a Presidential Transition Committee to ensure Dr. Murphy receives a successful orientation and transition to his new role. 

The Committee will be composed of:

  • two external governors
  • one member of Senior Leadership Team
  • one member of Senior Academic Committee
  • one faculty member
  • one student member
  • one staff member
  • one Communications Team member
  • Assistant to the President
  • University Secretary/Assistant University Secretary

The Board of Governors will assemble a diverse committee to ensure the university community’s perspectives are reflected throughout the transition.

Students, staff and faculty interested in serving on the committee should submit their expression of interest to no later than Wednesday, February 14 at noon. 

All expressions of interest should be in brief letter form and should address the following:

a) the applicant’s ability to commit the necessary time to regularly and consistently attend the Committee meetings and perform work as required between meetings;

b) the applicant’s reason for applying;

c) the applicant’s ability to connect the incoming president with the stakeholder group represented by the applicant. 

Prior to submitting an expression of interest, applicants should give serious consideration to the time commitment necessary to serve effectively on the PTC over the next year. Selected faculty, staff and students must continue to meet their employment and study obligations throughout the process.
