Co-op placement

Many of the programs at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology allow the student to acquire practical experience in a co-op placement with a company in his or her area of study. These partnerships are extremely important to the university as well as its students.

Our placement partners often require that the university meet certain requirements to allow these relationships to continue and to grow and prosper. We, in turn, want to be certain that the environment for our students is safe and offers a good learning environment

Students are often required to have Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) coverage for these placements when they are unpaid. Students working in approved, unpaid placement agencies are covered by the Ontario Ministry of Education's WSIB coverage. Forms must be filled out prior to the co-op or placement commencing.
